How We Review Watches

The Honest Baseline

HardWatches does not perform physical testing. We do not wear, measure, or lab-test watches, and we never will claim otherwise. Instead, we practice editorial analysis: careful, sourced evaluation of the information that actually exists — the manufacturer's published specifications, the Amazon listing, and aggregated customer ratings.

1. Where Specifications Come From

Every specification on a product page is attributed to its source. Case diameter, movement, material, water resistance, and power reserve come from the manufacturer's official product documentation and the Amazon listing for the model. Where a specification is not published, we say "see listing" rather than invent a figure.

2. How Products Are Selected

Our catalog is built from Amazon watch listings across luxury, sport, heritage, and smart categories. Selection criteria are:

• Clear, complete listing with published specifications.
• Sufficient customer rating volume to be meaningful.
• Recognition of the brand within the horological market.
• Availability in the Amazon US marketplace.

3. How Prices Are Checked

Prices shown are the listed prices at the time of cataloging. Amazon prices change frequently and vary by seller. We state prices as a reference and always link to the live listing so you can verify the current price before purchasing.

4. How Customer Ratings Are Interpreted

Star ratings on product pages are Amazon customer ratings, shown exactly as published on Amazon and labeled with their source. We never present them as HardWatches scores, and we do not adjust, weight, or rescale them. Our analysis references the rating and its volume so you can judge its reliability.

5. How Comparisons Are Created

When we compare watches, we compare only facts that share a common, documented source: movement type, case diameter, water resistance, power reserve, and list price. Where experience-based comparison — comfort, finishing, on-wrist feel — is impossible without testing, we say so and point to customer feedback instead.

6. What an Editorial Recommendation Means

A recommendation on HardWatches means: based on published specifications, listing completeness, and customer rating volume, this model is a reasonable candidate in its category at its listed price. It is not a claim of superiority based on personal testing, and it is not an instruction to buy.

7. How Corrections Are Handled

Errors — factual mistakes, overreaching language, broken links, or stale prices — are corrected promptly. You can report a correction on our contact page, and our correction process is described in the editorial policy.

Why We Do Not Use Scores — Yet

A numeric "HardWatches score" implies measurement, and we do not measure watches. We will only introduce a scoring system alongside a documented methodology that explains each category, its weight, and its evidence — and that methodology will be published here before any score appears on the site.
